Dr Daniel Wandsneider, CEO
I grew up in the rural Midwest, where I gained a deep appreciation for the tight-knit communities and the unique challenges they face. In 2007, I moved to Colorado and fell in love with the area and its people. After attending medical school, I made my home in a small town in western Colorado, working as a hospitalist. It was during this time that I truly understood the critical role rural hospitals play in the health and well-being of their communities.
While working for another rural group, I saw firsthand how venture capital-driven healthcare can compromise care and relationships. The focus was on profits—charging hospitals exorbitant premiums and spending heavily on marketing and sales—while physicians and their needs were often overlooked. This approach not only affected the physicians but also strained relationships with hospitals and, ultimately, the patients.
That experience inspired me to start Rural Family Physicians. I wanted to create a physician-led organization that truly puts doctors and patient care first. I believe that when physicians are supported, valued, and empowered, it has a ripple effect: exceptional patient care, stronger relationships with hospitals, and healthier communities.
Our group is comprised of high-quality physicians who are passionate about delivering extraordinary care, keeping patients close to home whenever possible. By partnering with critical access hospitals, we aim to bridge gaps in rural healthcare while maintaining a personal and professional approach to everything we do.
At Rural Family Physicians, we are committed to supporting rural hospitals and the communities they serve. Thank you for trusting us to help you care for your patients and neighbors.
Warm regards,
